Store History at the Mall
The A&P Supermarket at Monroeville Mall was a key part of the mall's original landscape, primarily located in the Mall Annex (also known as the Annex Shops).
History and Timeline
- Opening: The store was part of the surrounding developments that opened with or shortly after the mall's debut in 1969.
- Location: It was situated along the south rim of the parking area in the 110,200-square-foot Annex Shops strip. This separate building also housed a US Post Office, a liquor store, and So-Fro Fabrics.
- Closing: The A&P at the mall annex officially closed in 1992.
- Succession: After its closure, the space was eventually occupied by Herman’s Sporting Goods, and today it serves as a Guitar Center
