Belmar Candies of Pittsburgh, which at its peak operated 14 retail locations and a factory in Upper St. Clair, shut down in the mid-1990s following a bankruptcy filing.
History & Legacy
- Founded: Established in 1917 in Homewood by the uncle of Constantin "Gus" Zotis.
- Ownership: Gus Zotis purchased the company in 1955 and grew it into a prominent local confectionery known for "Pittsburgh’s Own" chocolate bars.
- Locations: Former shops were located at the Parkway Center Mall (Greentree) and Monroeville Mall.
- Family Successor: While Belmar is gone, the Zotis family legacy continued through Victoria’s Fudge-a-licious, owned by Gus’s daughter-in-law, Vicki Zotis
