Store History at the Mall
The Sheraton Inn on the Mall opened in 1973 as a high-rise anchor for the Monroeville Mall area. Known for its modern design and a popular restaurant called The Cabaret, it served as a major social hub for the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh.
Brand Transitions & Expansion
Over the decades, the property underwent several ownership and branding changes:
- 1970s–1980s: Originally the Sheraton, it became a Marriott in the late 70s.
- 1980s Expansion: A 140-room "South Tower" was added to the complex, bringing the total room count to over 330.
- Radisson Era: It later operated as a Radisson before transitioning again in the late 2000s.
- DoubleTree by Hilton (2009): The hotel was rebranded as a DoubleTree in 2009. During this transition, the South Tower was demolished, reducing the hotel back to its original 191-room main tower.
